B.pharm is a course that offers a wide variety of opportunities than just being a regular pharmacist. But somehow most people including me manages to get stuck in a pharmacy not realizing the potential of a Bpharm graduate. Bachelor of pharmacy is not about molding the best pharmacist. It's about developing an industrial chemist or an analyst, its about bringing people to pharma industries to work on production, quality control, quality assurance, research fields like pharmaceutical chemistry, medicinal chemistry, drug development, drug designing, pharmacovigilance, etc. As a Bpharm graduate reading this think of all the machinery, all the equipment, assays, formulations, quality control tests, productions, thousands of lab hours all for what picking and dispensing medicines. Let's be honest here. Pharmacy is not a good career, take it from a guy who actually loves this job. One thing that really annoys me the most is how people look down on us in this country. We've been treated with zero respect and underpaid for like forever. People with good knowledge understands the importance of a pharmacist in an individual's life and in society, just like Dr.Rajiv Shah quotes in his speech disruptors "Pharmacist is the forgotten member of the healthcare team and who knows more about medicine than a pharmacist" but unfortunately people with good knowledge is the rarest thing in India. So we are forced to go abroad looking for work, Middle east once offered a good salary for pharmacists, now most of the pharmacies in the middle east are run by our own countrymen knows how much pharmacist earns in India so they basically cut down salary saying that is way more than enough. And one thing working as a pharmacist (abroad or not ) you can't have is leave or vacations.
