WHAT IS NATURAL HERITAGE? And which are the THREATS to natural heritage (caused by human activity)? Natural heritage is an important part of our world's cultural heritage. It consists of natural areas of outstanding universal values, treasured for their beauty, special geological features, and biodiversity. Our natural world heritage is under threat from many factors, many of them derived from human activity. The main threats to natural heritage are climate change, invasive species, and the negative impacts of tourism. Other threats to natural world heritage include man-made constructions, exploitation of earth’s resources such as oil and gas, and mining, and plastic pollution. All these factors pose severe risks to our world's natural heritage and represent severe threats to biodiversity. In this video, I'm summarizing all these threats to natural heritage, discussing the effects of climate change on the environment, the effects of plastic pollution on marine life, and the human threats to biodiversity. Understanding that our world's natural heritage is under threat is the first step in taking action against these threats and preserving our world's natural sites and biodiversity.
