With the mixing of 40 Shamisentastic World songs almost completed, we decided to rethink the way we were planning to release this incredible music. Initially, we intended to sort the songs into five albums and then release one album per year. However, as much as I love songs packaged together in one album, it finally became clear that spreading the songs across five years is too long! Thus, we decided to release these 40 songs as individual singles, in order to bring you this music faster! A handful of songs will be released in the coming weeks (and later on, the remaining songs will be released once/month-ish), but for now, let's preview one of my favorite songs in the project - Burning of Auchindoun! Without question, the musicianship and production quality of these songs is far higher than any of my previous albums, and Burning of Auchindoun is a perfect way to highlight the difference! The song is basically a reproduction of the same song in my album Frosty: A Retrospective Christmas. Using the same tempo, key, and vibe, the song was rerecorded with a full ensemble of amazing artists (whereas in the original version, I played all the instruments myself as best as I could #roughandready). In this video, you can hear the two versions fade in and out, and experience the night & day difference! Here's everyone featured on this song! (Arranged alphabetically) Kyle Abbott (Shamisen, Mandolin, Vocals, Co-Producer) Jesse Autumn (Piano, Vocals) Shawn Head (Shakuhachi) Edwin Itoh (Guitar, Co-Producer) Joel Mankey (Co-Producer, Engineer) Doug Lee (Glasses) Annie Staninec (Fiddle) Steve Uccello (Bass) Rick Walker (Drums) Stay tuned for more!
