With the growing trend of Brazilian butt lift surgeries, it is becoming quite common for our patients to ask us how the procedure differs from fat transfer. This is an excellent question because some cosmetic surgery procedures have more than one name to describe the exact same procedure. The terminology can be somewhat confusing for someone who is not a member of a profession based in the cosmetic industry. Brazilian butt lift is the term that is often used to describe a butt augmentation procedure involving the transfer of fat from other regions, (harvest sites) of the body, to the buttocks. The procedure requires liposuction for fat collection in the abdomen or flanks or other body areas. The fat that is collected is treated in a special way before it can be injected back into the patient’s body in the region of the buttocks. Dr. Agha uses specialized instruments and techniques for microinjection to ensure that the blood supply to the newly transplanted cells is optimal. This maximizes fat cell survival in their new location within the buttock tissues. The fat micrografting process allows your buttocks to be contoured to your desired size and shape. Dr. Agha can greatly increase the fullness and projection of your backside by layering many fine layers of fat micrografts throughout your buttocks’ fatty tissues. Dr. Agha’s unique technique ensures that as much as 80% of the transferred fat will survive in its new location. But because around 20% of the injected fat will be reabsorbed, Dr. Agha usually exaggerates grafting to ensure optimal augmentation. What questions do you have for Dr. Agha and Shireen?
