🌋 Day 5 • Punta Espinosa (Fernandina) & Punta Vicente Roca (Isabela) | Galápagos Expedition Step into one of the most dramatic and wildlife‑rich days of the Galápagos journey. Our adventure begins at Punta Espinosa, a narrow ribbon of lava and sand stretching from the base of the mighty La Cumbre volcano on Fernandina Island. This stark volcanic landscape is alive with iconic species: marine iguanas, lava cacti, Sally Lightfoot crabs, Galápagos sea lions, Galápagos penguins, and the ever‑watchful Galápagos hawk perched above the shoreline. Crystal‑clear waters offer exceptional snorkeling, where sea turtles and sea lions glide through the shallows. Along the black lava rocks, you’ll also encounter the remarkable flightless cormorant, drying its small, atrophied wings in the sun. In the afternoon, we travel to Punta Vicente Roca on Isabela Island — one of the archipelago’s premier snorkeling sites. Here, panga rides reveal dramatic cliffs, abundant birdlife, and a rare opportunity to explore two shallow underwater caves. Beneath the surface, the diversity is astonishing: Port Jackson (bullhead) sharks, red‑lipped batfish, frogfish, Pacific seahorses, Camotillo, barracuda, brown‑striped snappers, plus vibrant sponges, corals, and countless marine invertebrates. This day blends volcanic drama, rare wildlife encounters, and unforgettable underwater exploration — a true highlight of any Galápagos expedition. Join us as we take a refreshing dip, swimming in the deep blue ocean alongside incredible marine life. This snorkel adventure provides an up-close perspective of the sea's beauty, offering a unique wildlife encounter in its natural habitat.
