Just arrived with us here at RFH Classics is this ultra rare 1988 (E) Volvo 240 GLT Estate Auto finished in Inferno Red with Black Leather trim. This icon of an estate car has only had 2 local owners from new having been supplied new by Pinneys Volvo of Harpenden to a Mrs Stockwell of Universal Toys in Harpenden on the 28th June 1988 with the 2nd owner purchasing the car also from Pinneys in March 1993. A 240 GLT Estate is a very uncommon sight on the roads today and for sure this one is going to turn a head or two with its beautiful paintwork that has recently been detailed. The drivers wing, as shown in the pictures is slightly off colour however we have decided that painting it would probably accentuate it further rather than improve it especially as the rest of the car is near perfect. The 15” Original Virgo Style alloy wheels have been the subject of a professional refurbish which has restored them to their former glory. Inside of the wonderful estate car you are greeted with supremely comfortable seats that are trimmed in Black Leather that, like the rest of the car, are in fabulous condition. As you would expect from Volvo the pair of front seats are heated which if I am sure with the front headlamp wipers means the car has what is known as a Winter Pack fitted. To the load area at the back there is an original Volvo dog guard fitted behind the back seat that folds up into the roof space along with a genuine Volvo hard shell load cover, all of which have seen very little use. There is a tow bar fitted with twin electrics although I am led to believe this hasn’t been used since the change of owners in 1993. The whole of the interior is like it has hardly ever been used and in near perfect condition. Under the bonnet sits the 2316cc 4 Cylinder (153 bhp) Petrol engine that is paired to a 4 Speed Automatic gearbox. The car has been serviced annually with the services from 1996 all being done by the same garage and includes a cam belt change although prior to it leaving us it will be replaced again along with a service. The car drives exceptionally well, I am sure that there are not many left out there that have providence of this car that includes low ownership, low mileage and great condition all in one car so for sure I cannot see this car hanging around long with us. There is a substantial history file that accompanies the car and included old copies of V5 Log Books, Old MOT Tests, Original Blue Volvo Owners Manuals and Wallets and a Lifetime Warranty Invoice for the exhaust that was stamped by the supplier every year from 1994 until 2022.
