Wow. This video has truly come a long way. {SPOILERS especially for Final Fantasy XV, 13, 13-2, Type 0} ** Long story short, three-ish years ago I decided to start playing all the Final Fantasy games I hadn't played before. It was a goal for me, because for a long time I had felt like I was missing out on so many great stories. In addition, as I knew 15 was finally coming out, I wanted to be up to speed with all references. It was worth it too, 15 has so many clever references to earlier games, in a subtle way. At that point, I had only played 10, 10-2, Type-0, 13, 13-2, 15, so I was a pretty recent Final Fantasy fan in terms of the overall fandom. My favourite, 10, I played when I was 13 (even then, I was a few years late on the release). Thus, I started playing from the very first one. I played 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and a couple of months ago finished 9. The only FF I haven't played in this video is 12. (I am literally burned out, you have to forgive me 12 fans XD). So, after I finished 15 in 2016 I heard the 15 version of Final Fantasy's Prelude and thought - it would be perfect for a video. I wasn't sure what yet, at first I fiddled around with 15 with it (my early versions had kid Noctis), but then it clicked - I could totally make this my tribute video once I was done with the games. So basically, this video is a tribute to all the stories in Final Fantasy games. It was very very difficult to choose scenes for this video. I wanted to be inclusive, but it was difficult to connect so many stories to each other, without lessening emotional impact of each one - especially for people who don't know Final Fantasy. It was an interesting challenge, and I hope the video hits well, for fans and non-fans. ** STORY The structure of the video is supposed to imitate the general structure of Final Fantasy games. At the beginning, we are introduced to the crystal, the most important/valuable source of power, worship, energy, etc, for our heroes. Then, we get transported to the home of our heroes, where they live, find love, have families, hopes and dreams. However, they have to venture to find the crystal (for various different fantasy reasons - you get the idea). Along the way they meet friends, form parties and bonds - even in creature form (chocobos, etc). Back home, their loved ones are fighting to defend their home from invasion. Regardless, the adventure continues, where their friendships and loyalties are tested and trialed, and they fight to survive. They never lose sight of whats important to them - the people they love. However things back home take a turn for the worse. The enemies have brought in reinforcements, and their homes are destroyed. Loved ones are lost, dreams and hopes shattered. The heroes have to say goodbye to those they care about. However, they understand that the greater goal is defending whats left. They mourn, and let go - while carrying the departed's hopes and dreams with them. And thus, they are reborn stronger than ever. People are sacrificed, but they will keep fighting for a new future. Massive thanks to three people (who are unquestionably bigger FF fans than me haha), Amy (KaeldraicProductions), Eny (ChainedSky) and Laura (Chikasole), for being my inspirations and the reasons why I wanted to try harder to complete FF games. I'm especially grateful to Amy for supporting me from the time this video was literally one clip long, until now, when I'm still asking for her honest opinions before I make this video public. :D Song: Prelude from Final Fantasy 15 Games: Final Fantasy 3, 4, 4 After Years, 7, Crisis Core, Advent Children, 8, 9, 10, 10-2, 12, 13, 13-2. 14, 15, 15 Kingsglaive, Type 0, Dissidia NT, Dissidia 1, Dirge of Cerberus. If anyone is interested, I did write some reviews on my tumblr years ago, however I think I stopped after 7 - http://snowflakesx.tumblr.com/tagged/... I can say that so far, 15, 7, 6 and then 5 are my favourites from this gaming marathon. I'll see if it can topple 10, when I replay it.
