Exploring the Wichitas Between the Mountains - The Bison Trail

Come along for a hike of the Bison Trail at Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. You'll see big gorges, beautiful lakes and streams, and some beautiful desert and prairie landscapes along the way. I found the trail to be surprisingly interesting for a rather flat six and a half mile route; it exceeded my expectations. What took me by surprise, though (and it shouldn't have), was the near total lack of shade. You will need to prepare by dressing with protective layers and/or wearing a serious slathering of sunscreen.
