We wake up to Lough Derg at Dromineer in need of a shower to find that Waterways Ireland close this facilty between 1st of November and St Patricks Day ! The great shower search leads us to Portumna Castle Harbour RV site.....a joint venture between the council and Waterways Ireland. It's a lovely clean site that's well looked after by the council with facilities provided by Waterways Ireland accessed with their smart cards. There's plenty to see and do at Portumna with the town being a 15 minute walk away and a large recreational waterpark area. The castle and grounds are open to visit in the summer but the ruins of the Friary are open all year. The free municipal WiFi is available here too. We move on to Belturbet to find a waterside overnight parking place overlooking Belturbet Marina next to an old slipway. This was our third attempt at a place to stay for the night after ruling out the other two options in town. The old Cavalry Barracks was demolished with only the outer walls still standing, but it is now a green and pleasant recreational area beside the water. We look inside the Waterways Ireland facilites building here to find that it is extremely well equipped and very warm too.
