HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE PAYROLL PROTECTION PROGRAM??? I’m Tom Kuhn, CEO of Qnity here to make small business finances simple, visual and actionable. Our Qnity team is doing our due diligence to get the most recent and accurate information regarding relief and assistance for your small businesses and your teams. While we are not tax experts, financial lenders or employment attorneys - we are committed to making this information more digestible and presenting it to you as simple and visual as possible. Here’s the details: As many of you know, banks are now able to take applications from small businesses for the Payroll Protection Program. Independent contractors have to wait until April 10th to apply. Let’s be super clear - Although banks are ABLE does not mean they are READY. To find a bank in your area that is ready: Go to sba.gov, coronavirus learn more, coronavirus funding options, click here to learn more, payroll protection program, find a lender. Many banks are only going to accept applications from current clients. Go directly to your bank’s website to see if they have any information about their process for the Payroll Protection Program. Even if your bank is not READY to take applications, prepare what you need to apply. Calculate your average monthly payroll cost for 2019. Basically, this is the gross wages (before any deductions for taxes withheld, benefit deductions, etc.) Ensure gross payroll includes: salary, wage, commission, tips, vacation and sick pay, payment of retirement benefits, state and local taxes but NOT income taxes, payment for health care benefits. This does NOT include: compensation of any employee over $100,000, federal income taxes, reimbursement for expenses and sick leave or FMLA under the new coronavirus requirements. You CAN apply for BOTH the Economic Injury Disaster Loan and the Payroll Protection Program. The loans must cover different expenses, but you can apply for both. The Economic Injury Disaster Loan application is available on sba.gov. The new application has been incredibly streamlined and takes no more than 10 minutes to complete. DO THIS NOW. Do not wait. You will need your total revenue from Feb 1, 2019 to January 31st, 2020, your cost of goods sold, your federal EIN number, your bank account routing and account number and other basic information you likely know off the top of your head. This is not hard. DO THIS NOW. The funds in these programs are NOT endless, they will run out. If you do nothing else today, apply for what you can and prepare to apply for what will be available soon. To see all of our updates and to receive free education on small business finances made simple and visual, follow our Qnity channel on YouTube. My request is to pay this forward by sharing to other small businesses that you care about. Thank you for listening, I hope this information was helpful to you.
