Juli 2024 Teil 2: Desinformation, Manipulation, Demagogie und Demokratiezusammenbruch, damals und heute / „Disinformation, Manipulation, Demagoguery, and the Collapse of Democracy, then and now Gespräch mit Zoltán Ádám und Thomas Weber über die Grundmuster der Desinformation, Manipulation und Demagogie in den Weltkriegen der Desinformation und Demagogie der 1920er bis 1940er Jahre und der Gegenwart sowie über die Bedingungen, unter denen es zu Weltkriegen der Desinformation und Demagogie kommt. Kurzbiographien der Teilnehmer: Dr Zoltán Ádám is Senior Research Fellow at the Dept. of Government and Public Policy at the HUNREN Centre for Social Sciences in Budapest. He is also Senior Policy Adviser to the Mayor of Budapest’s Ferencváros district. The former Head of the Dept. of Economic Policy and Labour Economics at Corvinus University in Budapest, he was dismissed with immediate effect in October 2023 after initiating ethical investigations against three high-ranking university leaders, the rector and two deans in early 2023. Holding degrees from Central European University, ELTE University of Budapest, Debrecen University and Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Dr Ádám is an expert on 21st century regime change, democratic backsliding, and authoritarian populism in Hungary and elsewhere. Rosie Goldsmith is an award-winning journalist and presenter, specializing in arts and foreign affairs. As a BBC broadcaster for twenty years, she travelled the world. Today she combines journalism with presenting and curating cultural and literary events. As well as being Director of the European Literature Network and Editor-in-Chief of The Riveter magazine, Rosie Goldsmith is also the Artistic Director of the European Writers’ Festival in the UK. Prof. Thomas Weber has served as a consultant on FÜHRER UND VERFÜHRER. Professor of History and International Affairs at the University of Aberdeen and a Visiting Fellow of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, Weber brought out most recently “Als die Demokratie starb: Die Machtergreifung der Nationalsozialisten – Geschichte und Gegenwart “(Herder). The German edition of his new book, “The First Battle of Britain: Nazi Disinformation and Foreign Interference in Britain”, will be published later this year by Berlin Story Verlag.
