A heart-to-heart dialogue with Dr Mohammad Iqbal, mapping his journey of migration and transformation. By profession, he is a Consultant Neuro-Otologist but his real vocation is championing humanitarian work and serving humanity. Hence why he set up the UK's largest charity for Doctors, Physicians, and Surgeons from the Indo Subcontinent, and founded the Association of Pakistani Physicians and Surgeons of the UK Foundation (APPSUKF). Acting now as the ex-chair and one of the trustees of APPSUK. Mohammed Iqbal currently works as a Neuro-Otologist & Audio-Vestibular Physician at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. Mohammed does research in Paediatrics, Otolaryngology, and Neurology. Their current project is 'Audit of BPPV'. Having received 25 excellence awards including a lifetime humanitarian award, Dr Iqbal shares with us his philosophy of serving others. According to him; “Life does not mean to just live for yourself, life means to share happiness and wisdom with others. When you share happiness with others you find peace and happiness within yourself. He's listed among 100 influential Muslims and Pakistanis in the UK. Watch our conversation to learn about the positive contribution Muslim doctors have made not only within the NHS but also to the wider British society and their own migrant communities by imparting their wisdom and philosophy of 'Khidmet-e-Khalq' (serving humanity) and by playing an active role in society-building. This is unity in diversity in the most practical sense.
