Visit Santa Elena Canyon via Maverick Road (check conditions ahead of time!) – enjoy a short 1.0-mile hike. Drive back via the scenic Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive: Stop at Castalon Admire the Mule Ears Catch a stunning sunset at Sotol Vista Once you have cell signal, call Long Draw Pizza for a delicious pickup once you get into town! 🍕 End the night with some amazing stargazing🔭 Day 2: Friday - The Basin Rise early and hit the Lost Mine Trail – a challenging but rewarding 5-mile hike with a 1,200' elevation gain.⤴ Next, hike The Window Trail – a beautiful 4.7-mile trek with a 700' elevation gain, perfect for a lunch break at the trail end overlooking Mexico. For the ambitious, add an extra hike to Balanced Rock – a 2.25-mile hike with a 250' elevation gain (note: dirt road with a rough finish). Enjoy dinner and shopping at the iconic Starlight Theatre. End your day with more incredible stargazing. Day 3: Saturday - East Side Drive to the Boquillas Border Crossing (about 1 hour from Terlingua): Don’t forget your passport! Savor margaritas at Jose Falcon’s Try goat tacos at Boquillas Restaurant Shop for unique souvenirs Visit the Rio Grande Village Visitor Center. Relax at the historic Hot Springs. Grab dinner at El Gordo’s Grill Foodtruck. Stargaze one last time under the Big Bend skies. Day 4: Sunday - Departure Start your morning with coffee and breakfast at Venga. Leave just at sunrise and enjoy a peaceful drive through the park.
