| Official Release | J-Pop / Electroswing / Rock Fusion Tokyo’s most unpredictable new band is here. 💥 Yashiko Dinosaur Meditation Retreat (or YDMR) defies every label you try to pin on them. Their debut album, Barely Made It Out, is a dazzling, chaotic mix of J-pop, jazz, electroswing, and alt-rock energy, born from the streets of Shibuya and the restless minds of six young musicians determined to carve out their place in music history. When YDMR first approached Musical Records, they didn’t have an album deal—just three songs and a dream. The label agreed to sign them for a small EP—if the band could keep producing great material, track by track. What started as a few songs slowly evolved into an ambitious project stitched together with determination, late-night recording sessions, and a few lucky breaks. Against all odds, they barely made it out… and the result is one of the most eclectic and exciting debut albums to come from Tokyo’s new generation of creators. 🎙️ The Band Lineup: Yui Nakamura – Vocals (the powerhouse and soul of YDMR) Riku Tanaka – Guitar, Vocals (heard on “Let’s All Dance” and “You’re a Clown”) Sho Kato – Bass Haru Suzuki – Drums Taro Yamamoto – Keyboards Kenji Ito – Saxophone YDMR’s sound feels both nostalgic and futuristic — like the past and future colliding on a Tokyo backstreet. Their jazz roots twist into electroswing grooves, while the pop polish and rock riffs keep it fresh and unforgettable. From the upbeat fun of “Let’s All Dance” to the surreal pulse of “Spider Chase,” this album shows a band with no fear of mixing genres or moods. 🎧 The album’s opening track, “That’s All I Wanna Do,” was written by Funkius Aurum’s Jamal “Funky Fingers” Carter — a crossover collaboration that brings a smooth funk undercurrent to the record. 🔥 Track 4, “Gridiron Glide,” is a bold reimagining of The SurfPunters’ surf-rock classic. 🎡 Track 6, “Test Strip 4,” revives the underground Jennifer Tisdale favorite with a completely new twist. 💫 Upcoming singles: “Centrifuge Baby,” “You’ve Got What I Need,” and “It’s Like That” will all drop as their own visual singles soon — but for now, you can experience them first right here in the full album stream. 🎵 Tracklist (YouTube Chapters) 00:00 That's All I Wanna Do 03:14 Let's All Dance 05:28 You're a Clown 08:19 Gridiron Glide 10:46 Spider Chase 13:00 Test Strip 4 15:19 You've Got What I Need 18:56 Centrifuge Baby 22:06 It's Like That 26:18 Places I've Never Been 💬 About the Album Title The name Barely Made It Out isn’t just a punchline — it’s the truth. This album represents every hurdle, rejection, and midnight rehearsal YDMR faced before finally sealing their record deal. When things seemed to fall apart, they improvised, kept writing, and found ways to keep the dream alive. This isn’t perfection polished by a major studio — it’s raw talent that refused to quit. 💡 Sometimes, barely making it out… means you made it. (This album is proof that no matter how hard it got, we never stopped making music.
