Covering the stairs is a new project that my father and I did together. 7 years ago, the rough concrete of the staircase was finely treated with a cement screed and prepared for the final final coating with exactly defined tread widths and heights. After that, the treads of the stairs were painted with concrete paint and temporarily covered with carpet. Considering that the upper half of the house is completely finished with gray laminate, I was looking for a similar solution for the staircase, so we finally decided on porcelain tiles in imitation of wood. The dimensions of the ceramic are 60 x 120 x 1 cm and it is laser cut, so it can be installed without joints for some larger floor surfaces. In the near future, the ground floor will be renovated in a similar tone, so everything should eventually look like one unit with a more modern appearance. You can also see the lighting of the staircase, which I was very proud of at the beginning, but now I am of the opinion that maybe it is too little. Given the option to do it again I would probably only work on every other tread and landing, I think it would have a much better and more moderate effect. Also, my wish is to install light bulbs with white rosettes, because that way they will fit better into the planned fence and the rest of the interior decoration. In addition to the entire process of gluing and covering the staircase with porcelain ceramic in imitation of wood, in the video you can also see the improvised rehabilitation of the landing of the stairs and several treads, where the concrete liner miraculously separated from the load-bearing concrete, although we did it extremely meticulously at the time. I decided on this now purely to neutralize the "cavity sound" under the tiles. I must say that we took care of that and thoroughly cleaned and dusted the supporting concrete and applied a strong cement spray mortar as a connection to the cement screed, but somehow that sound of the separated cement screed appeared again, which we have now eliminated.
