At the age of 62, the dandy pastor looks like he hasn’t aged a day since his 30s. He has an athletic body and mounts the pulpit with unrivalled charisma that many new-age pastors can only dream of. But it’s common knowledge that Paul Adefarasin is more than his looks and high taste in fashion. For almost three decades, the celebrity pastor of Lekki has remained one of the most influential pastors of our time. Not only in Nigeria but all over the world. Born on January 25 1963, to a Nigerian father, Joseph Adefarasin and a Jamaican mother, Hilda Adefarasin, Paul Adeolu Adefarasin spent some of his formative years in Nigeria. The religious leader attended St Saviour’s School in Ikoyi and later Igbobi College in Yaba. The clergyman later relocated to the UK, where he completed his secondary school education at Haileybury College in Hertfordshire, England. In the early 1980s, Paul Adefarasin moved to the United States for his tertiary education at the University of Miami. During his study, the famous pastor struggled with substance abuse for three years. This experience caused severe damage to his mental health before he gave up the lifestyle and became a born-again Christian. The pastor would later graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in architecture and start his career as an architect in Florida.
