This city is known as Pink city due to the colour of many buildings. The walls were painted pink as pink is seen as the colour of friendship and hospitality. The king at the time painted the city pink in order to make the British Queen Victoria feel welcome upon her arrival here in Jaipur in 1876. Since then, people just kept painting the buildings pink. When we arrived in the Pink city of Jaipur, we noticed that the city was not as pink as we thought it was. It seemed to be more of an orange colour or a peach colour. We don't know if this is due to the sun fading the colour or what was classified as pink in the 1800s. Or maybe it's just our eyes ? It was still fascinating to explore this city regardless of the colour it was?
