Want to learn how to play Luke but don't know where to start? Confused by all the combo videos and waffle? Don't know how to PUNCH good? Well this is the tutorial for you! In this tutorial I will cover what I consider to be the core beginner combos to learn before going on to learn more advanced hit-confirm and link combos. I also cover a primer to Intermediate Combos, punishing, jump-ins, anti-airs and dealing with fireballs :) SHORTCUTS AND INPUT PRIORITIES The standard DP (Dragon Punch) input is f d df (for Rising Rocket) but you will see I have used the df d df shortcut for easy cancelling from a crouching attack. f df f is another shortcut which is also hidden in f QCF+P (f d df f) as well as the standard f d df input giving you two chances of getting the input. Concerning input priorities the f d df input has priority over QCF so as mentioned above f QCF+P will give Rising Rocket and not Sand Blaster. However QCF will have priority over df d df so if you do df d df f+P you will get Sand Blaster instead of Rising Rocket. CHARGING Luke is able to charge his Flash Knuckle specials by holding the punch button giving better attritubutes to the attack. I wouldn't worry about it for now as it is advanced level techniques but charged H Flash Knuckle is the one time I would recommend beginners charge the attack and is plus on block! V-SKILLS AND V-TRIGGERS I would recommend beginners use VS1 and VT1. VS1 gives the charged effect for Flash Knuckle without the charge and VS2, while interesting, I really see no point in using. VT1 offers more flexibility, especially in fireball wars where VT2 is just a combo extension. Although VT2 has some chunky damage with VS1 and charged attacks, I deemed it too complicable for Beginner Combos but feel free to play around with it if you're comfortable :D The other important thing to know about his V-Trigger is it doesn't act like other characters' V-Triggers. Instead of slowly draining the V-gauge it will gradually increase over time when activated! It will also increase when you damage your opponent but decrease when you take damage as well as use V-meter attacks! Essentially you can run away to allow your V-guage to increase for more uses! I think Luke is a pretty good character for beginners as he has a good set of tools and good combo damage. He has a lot of complexities to him for when you get better at the game too :) What I don't like about Luke is he has the most awkward hit-confirm since Sakura and Juri. c.MP to b+MP cancel is super awkward, it's worse than Sakura's s.MP to b+HP because his b+MP is faster and therefore the cancel window is shorter! The plus is you can learn the timing for charged L Flash Knuckle to make the combo a little easier and increase your damage :) Any questions about the video, combos, character, game, etc. please leave a comment and I'll do my best to answer. This has taken about 1-2 months longer than I had hoped :) Birdy up next! Subscribe for more tutorials! Support my channel and become a Saikyo Patron! - / sugami
