Watching the very first unboxing is always exciting — but watching… hm… technically the minus first unboxing? That’s doubly so! Why “minus first”? Well, this is the unboxing of a pre-production prototype copy. Obviously, prototype copies are what publishers send to reviewers and showcase at conventions to get a game some exposure. However, their main purpose is to check the game in real life and find all the imperfections and issues that one can’t really spot with a TTS version or photos. Tens of hours of playtest with these copies helped us find what components need to be tweaked for a better play experience. For example, we’ve decided to make Expert Worker tokens thicker so that they are more convenient to handle.
