ADC Rejects 2027 Timetable, Cites Digital Rule Burden

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the revised 2027 election timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, warning that the new schedule may restrict effective opposition participation. The party argues that provisions within the Electoral Act 2026, particularly the requirement for a fully digitalised membership register across all 36 states within a limited timeframe, impose significant compliance burdens on smaller political parties. With Nigeria’s electoral calendar already tightening, questions are emerging about political inclusiveness, equal competition and whether the revised timetable could reshape the balance of power ahead of 2027.
