In this 20-minute session “Imaging Bacterial Load in Complex Wound Patients: Outcomes Analysis of Healing, Infections and Life-Threatening Complications”, Martha Kelso, CEO of Wound Care Plus, will describe results of a review of wound outcomes and antibiotic prescribing rates in SNF and LTC settings, comparing pre and post adoption of MolecuLight point-of-care fluorescence imaging of bacterial load. Key topics of discussion will include: • Skilled nursing facility (SNF) and long term care (LTC) settings have disproportionately high rates of wounds and wound-related infections, with higher antibiotic prescribing rates and lower 12-week wound healing rates than the national average • Earlier detection of bacterial load and other risk factors is critical for infection prevention in this high-risk patient population • This session will describe results of a retrospective chart review of wound outcomes and antibiotic prescribing rates in SNF and LTC settings, comparing pre and post adoption of point-of-care fluorescence imaging of bacterial load (MolecuLight) and its locations
