VIDEO INDEX: 00:02 - Hardware overview 01:58 - Latching mechanism 03:34 - Keyboard and trackpad 05:08 - Battery life 05:46 - Web browsing and video streaming 06:59 - Microsoft Word and office tasks 07:41 - Minecraft and gaming 09:17 - Conclusion and final thoughts The Switch 11v is the big brother to the Switch 10 that we looked at in late 2014. The 10 has a slower Atom based processor, this one is slightly larger (11.6 inch IPS touch display) and is powered by a faster Core M processor. Performance is great on this and in line with other Core-M based machines we have tested on the channel recently. It's noticeably faster than cheaper computers and about in line with what an i3/i5 chip could do about 4-5 years ago. Certainly adequate for most tasks. The tablet portion is detachable from the keyboard. The latching mechanism is magnetically guided and very firmly holds the screen when docked. The screen can be flipped around for 2-in-1 tasks as well. My biggest gripe with the 11v is the keyboard and trackpad. They should be nicer for the price point. Not a total deal breaker but there are better keyboards and trackpads out there.
