This week Foster Carer Carmel from the South Coast shares some insights into her fostering journey. She became a foster carer after adopting her own bunny from The Rabbit Sanctuary. Through the adoption process she had direct contact with her bunny's Foster Carer, and realised what a pivotal role Foster Carers have in the whole rehabilitation and rehoming process of The Rabbit Sanctuary bunnies. She first fostered a small, young bunny who was dropped at her local vet clinic, and most recently has fostered a Flemish Giant, Gingerbelle! Both bunnies have been adopted by amazing families, who Carmel is still in touch with. Carmel also speaks about some of the things Foster Carers do daily for their foster bunnies, such as handling them, grooming them and checking their health. This handling helps calm the bunnies and gets them used to being around humans, ready for their adoptive family!
