পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সহ নানা রাজ্যের ভোটের দিন ক্ষণ রবিবারই ঘোষণা করে দিয়েছে নির্বাচন কমিশন। অথচ বাংলায় কারা ভোট দেবে, কারাই বা ভোটে দাঁড়াতে পারবে তা খনও অনিশ্চিত। সুপ্রিম কোর্টের নির্দেশ মতো বিচারকরা ভোটার তালিকায় বিচার্যদের সম্বন্ধে সিদ্ধান্ত নিচ্ছেন। কিন্তু প্রথম সাপ্লিমেন্টারি লিস্টও এ যাবৎ প্রকাশিত হয়নি। লক্ষ লক্ষ ভোটার এবং বেশ কিছু সম্ভাব্য ভোট প্রার্থী জানেন না তাঁদের নির্বাচনে আদৌ অংশ গ্রহণ করা হবে কিনা। এ কি আদর্শ গণতন্ত্র না তার ব্যভিচার? Yet, in Bengal, it remains uncertain who will be eligible to vote and who will be permitted to stand as a candidate. In compliance with the Supreme Court's directives, judges are currently adjudicating the eligibility of individuals listed as 'under adjudication' in the voter rolls. However, even the first supplementary list has yet to be published. Consequently, hundreds of thousands of voters—along with a number of potential candidates—remain in the dark as to whether they will be able to participate in the election at all.
