I understand if this is divisive or different from my other works, but I think if there is one project I would say I made for myself above any other it would be this one and I wanted to prioritize telling it authentically above all else. Tags: the very hungry caterpillar is the protagonist of the childrens book of the same name by eric carle. the very hungry caterpillar a famous story about a caterpillar who eats a lot of food before building a cocoon and becoming a butterfly. eric carle is an author who is near and dear to my heart as polar bear polar bear what do you hear was one of my all time favorite books growing up and i loved reading it. in 2021 freshy kanal made kirby vs the very hungry caterpillar and cast me in the role of the caterpillar and it ended up being one of the most iconic roles in my history of the community at a time where i was on a huge streak of momentum and excitement as a creator and community figure. in this story he is a representation of my hunger and ambition as a creative to achieve greatness at the very niche thing that i do, the starry-eyed child in me that never stops dreaming and never stops trying to make my dreams a reality. the caterpillar is from alice in wonderland or alices adventures in wonderland, a lewis carroll childrens novel that was adapted into a 1951 disney movie. the caterpillar is a sentient caterpillar that smokes a hookah and is generally grumpy. despite his ill temperament and his impatience with alice for quoting his recitations incorrectly, he helps alice find direction within wonderland and prompts her self-reflection by asking "who are you?". the caterpillar was my first ever acting role in a play and a huge stepping stone for me as a performer, being only 12 years old when i had my first musical theatre acting experience. unlike the normal depiction, the caterpillar i portrayed was a very lively and charismatic character, sporting a green costume and his AEIOU song replaced with a modernized version of zip-a-dee-doo-dah even featuring a rap section. perhaps this is who the caterpillar in the video was before becoming the blue grouch more in line with his iconic interpretations. if i haven't privated it, you may even find a video of this channel of me re-performing the zip-a-dee-doo-dah song in 7th grade for an actors showcase.
