Ever wondered what happens when you remove the parallel resistor in an L-pad or how they work? Some claim it’s a "short to ground", but in reality, it’s critical for proper impedance matching and sound balance. In this video, we demonstrate live what happens when the parallel leg is removed and then replaced—you’ll hear the good, the bad, and the ugly for yourself. With cheeky monkey transitions to keep things fun, we break down why: The parallel resistor is NOT a short—the amplifier sees the total impedance of the driver + L-pad in this case = 8 Ohms. Keep in mind: if the L pad was a short the horn would not play at all! Removing it wrecks the sound, making the speaker unbalanced. You can swap it for a different value, but you should never remove it entirely. This video is here to head off mistakes before they happen. Watch, listen, and learn why the L-pad works as intended! 🔊 Subscribe for more speaker mods, tech breakdowns, and myth-busting!
