We see couples who on the face of it, should have a thriving relationship because they appear to be a great fit. But within the actual relationship there is complete chaos. This conversation unpacks some of the factors that affect the success of a relationship, both internal and external. We talk a bit about Mark Travers article on the personality types that make for great relationships. Two examples are: Honesty-Humility consists of characteristics such as being honest, loyal, and sincere versus being boastful, hypocritical, and pretentious. Openness to Experience describes being curious, creative, and intellectual versus being shallow, unimaginative, and conventional. The authors believe that the strongest perceived similarities emerged in these two areas because these traits have a strong correspondence to personal values.
