The Robot Operating System (ROS) is an open-source framework designed to simplify the development of robotic systems. It’s not a true operating system, like Windows, macOS, or Linux. Rather, it acts as a middleware, a software layer that sits between your robot's operating system and the applications that control it. It uses an underlying messaging system to allow nodes (separate processes) to talk to each other. These nodes can be written in a variety of languages, including C++ and Python.
