Jamie McCartney

Jamie McCartney is a full-time artist with over 30 years’ experience creating multidisciplinary and often experimental artworks with a focus on sculpture and photography around the human body, mind and spirit. His personal work is often strongly socio-political exploring conflict, mental health, human rights, sexual politics and the environment, in collaboration with other artists, scientists and the public. Jamie’s humour shows in much of the work, using visual and verbal puns in order to engage with a wider audience. Most recognised is The Great Wall of Vagina (2011), exhibited in museums in Milan, Lisbon and Miami and in several commercial galleries. Since first appearing on UK television as a work in progress in 2008, it has kept him continually in the national and international media.
