Here is the demo to "High Adventure," a song from Howard Ashman's original treatment to ALADDIN. In the original treatment, Aladdin had a trio of friends -- Babkak, Omar, and Kassim -- who were his best pals and performing partners as street musicians. (NOTE: As of right now, I'm uncertain on whether they were also all theives. I'm sure they were, but I've been proven wrong before.) Also, it included two genies: The Genie of the Lamp, the Fats Waller inspired genie that remains in the final film, and The Genie of the Ring, the narrator of the original treatment and the genie included here. (This genie was, obviously, cut from the final film.) Also, it features a new love interest for Aladdin, Abbi, who Howard describes in a typed copy of the treatment dated January 12, 1988 as such: "The tomboy female component in [Aladdin's] gang. (In West Side Story she'd play 'Anybody's.') She's the Girl-Next-Door to Aladdin and he doesn't even notice that she is a girl until fairly late in the proceedings. In this number, The Genie of the Ring gets Aladdin to convince Babkak, Omar, and Kassim to help him save the princess (not Abbi, as I erroneously stated in the video).
