South Africa- Cape Town, the vineyards- Muratie

July, 2023 Located in Knorhoek Valley north of Stellenbosch about an hour outside Cape Town is Muratie Wine Estate. The farm itself dates back to 1685 when it was granted by Governor Simon van der Stel who was Governor of the Cape of Good Hope at the time. This makes Muratie one of the oldest estates in South Africa and along with that age comes many characters and truly fascinating stories, and our host, Carmen, shared many those stories with us as you'll hear in this video. This charming vineyards wines are all named after many of these colorful characters. Some that we enjoyed- the MCC bubbly known as Lady Alice along with a blended red, Ansela van de Caab, George Paul Canitz (Pinot Noir), Laurens Campher (blended white), Isabella (Chardonnay) and others. This was our first ever vineyard wine tasting and they certainly set a high bar for future visits to other vineyards. Our heartfelt thanks to our host, Carmen, for a very enjoyable education in wines....how fortunate Muratie Wine Estate is to have such a beautiful, passionate, professional to represent the brand.
