Inmates, mostly transferred from New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, serve the rest of their sentences while learning skills and livelihoods. But this is just one side of the western province of Mindoro island! From a welcome at San Jose night market, we travelled the next morning to a Mangyan community near Devil's Mountain, to see how the indigenous people of this island live. Then we see some other parts of this fascinating island - and the cool air - before entering the Penal Colony! Here, we met a tradesman who not only improvised his own equipment, but produces beautiful handicrafts for sale inside!
