Prayer in F was composed in 2020 following the catastrophic 2019/20 Australian bushfires. The work was premiered digitally in 2021 by the MLC School Vocal Consort for Musica Viva's Strike A Chord competition, where the performance was awarded the Spirit of Chamber Music Award and the Vocal Prize. What has become of the rich red earth and clear blue sky? And now we pray for rain, for cool to end the heat, from scorch to soak, from black to green, for the land to rest. I pray that the land is buried in summer water, buried in summer rain. We are buried in summer, buried in summer rain.
