Jimmy "Bo" Horne was a beneficiary of the Harry Wayne Casey and Rick Finch production machine at TK Records. "Gimme Some" is a joyous disco romp that hit a bit harder than the poppier KC & The Sunshine Band hits like his "Dance Across The Floor" from 1978. It will be forever burned in my mind as the song Mary Tyler Moore chose to choreograph with a troop of Mr Grants on her variety show. Jimmie was born 9/28/1949 in West Palm Beach, FLA. In 1971, he graduated from Bethune Cookman College, an historically black college located in Daytona Beach, Florida founded by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. Horne first recorded for the Alston label, one of the TK Records family. "If You Want My Love" was written and produced in 1972 by Clarence Reid and William Clark. He followed up that single with "Clean Up Man", an "answer" song to Betty Wright's "Clean Up Woman" the same year. His next single was 1973's "If We Were Still Together" again with the same writer producer credits, was a more soulful affair. 1974's "Don't Worry About It" with Harry Wayne Casey and Rick Finch in the production seat, was picked up by RCA for worldwide distribution. Then came the disco classic "Gimme Some" in 1975. Horne was a specialist as a novelty dance artist, "Get Happy" in 1977, my personal favorite, "Spank" in 1978 and then "Dance Across The Floor" later that same year. His last notable single was the bass heavy "Is It In" from 1980.
