Why Toxic Masculinity is Hurting Men

I know that toxic masculinity has been discussed over and over, but I've seen some people say some counterintuitive things about toxic masculinity and wanted to clear some things up. Toxic masculinity does not mean that masculinity is toxic, it's something entirely different! 🙅‍♀️ Toxic masculinity has to deal with: • men not being allowed to show emotions (leading to a negative effect on men's mental health) • men not being allowed to see help (mental illness, suicide rates) • men not taken seriously when they are raped or assaulted (especially when it's done by a woman) • pressure on sexual experience (virgins get shamed, importance on sexual experience and not on anything else) • being told that being queer or gay is weak (homophobia) • misogyny • incel culture (feeling "entitled" to sex and affection) We like to go over how harmful a patriarchal society is to women, but it's equally shitty for men and boys. It's hurting literally EVERYBODY and it's something that needs to be stopped so that we can protect every person who has been affected by toxic masculinity. 🫂❤️‍🩹 This also leads to incel culture, which is atrocious for everyone involved, including those in the community. But I probably don't have to tell you how much of a problem the incel communities are because most of us have some sort of idea. It's something that runs DEEP in our system and we need to detoxify ourselves from all this bs.
