The first clip shows their initial touch-and-go, followed by their return for a landing with the arresting hook. Emergency crews responded and the runway was temporarily closed while the jet was towed.....no one was injured KGW8 shared an article about it: "Oregon Air National Guard jet makes emergency landing with tail hook at PDX An emergency landing was required after the pilot reported a landing gear problem. Author: Kyle Iboshi (KGW) Published: 5:58 PM PDT September 18, 2025 Updated: 9:15 AM PDT September 19, 2025 PORTLAND, Ore. - An Oregon Air National Guard jet used its tail hook to catch an emergency cable while landing at Portland International Airport on Wednesday morning. An emergency landing was required after the pilot reported a landing gear problem. The F-15C Eagle was returning from a training flight over the Pacific Ocean when the pilot reported the issue. The jet touched down safely around 10:35 a.m., using a safety cable on the runway that helps stop planes in emergencies. Only one pilot was on board, and no one was hurt, according to the 142nd Wing. The landing briefly disrupted air traffic at PDX. The airport's south runway was closed for about 35 minutes while crews reset the cable system. During that time, roughly 30 departing flights were delayed, and seven incoming planes were diverted to other airports, according to an airport spokesperson. PDX's other runway was already closed for scheduled construction work but was temporarily reopened to help clear some of the backlog. Airport officials said operations returned to normal by about 11:10 a.m. The 142nd Wing of the Oregon Air National Guard is based at Portland International Airport and regularly flies training missions along the Oregon coast and over the Pacific." #portland #pdx #aviation #aviationlovers #f15 #aviationdaily #aviation #emergencylanding #hookdeployed #jets #pnw #oregon #airnationalguard #airplane #aircraft #pilot #aviationlife #aviationphotography #safelanding #redhawks
