M. Shadows, the lead singer of Avenged Sevenfold, is a high baritone known for his gritty, raspy voice and technically precise singing. He's able to stay perfectly on pitch and maintain excellent power at both ends of his range, and his voice is a huge part of his band's success. Enjoy the video! As always, this is for entertainment purposes only and I don't claim copyright for any of the material used. Let's look at the notes! Here are his lowest passages... 0:00—Backing from "A Little Piece of Heaven" down to D2. 0:10—Backing from "Afterlife" down to E2. 0:12—Singing down to F2 in "Not Ready to Die." There's some debate over whether this passage is actually an octave lower, but it's inconclusive. 0:14—Growly passage from "Betrayed" that gets down to a full F2 and growl D2. 0:33—Backing from "Demons" down to D2. 0:39—A couple of A2s from "M.I.A." (NOTE: Sorry the last two clips are out of order, they were thought to be different notes when I uploaded the video originally). 0:52—Growly passage down to G#2 from "The Wicked End." 0:54—Quick slide up from G#2 in "Danger Line." 0:57—A2s from "A Little Piece of Heaven." 1:01—Another short A2 from "M.I.A." 1:07—Quick A2 from Avenged Sevenfold's Iron Maiden cover "Flash of the Blades." 1:15—Nice passage from "Danger Line" that bottoms at A2. 2:00—Soft singing in "Tonight The World Dies" with a couple of B♭2s. And here's the upper register... 2:27—Clean singing up to A4 from "Strength of the World." 3:02—Powerful raspy A4 from "M.I.A." 3:08—Sustained A4 from "Save Me." 3:17—Great singing up to A4 from "Buried Alive." 3:30—Great B♭4s from "Betrayed." 3:47—Powerful and sustained B♭4 from "Nightmare." 3:56—Beautiful chorus from "The Wicked End" with a sustained B♭4. 4:38—Chorus from "Beast and the Harlot" up to B4. 5:02—Lots of powerful B4s from "Buried Alive." 5:46—Even more B4s from an incredible passage in "Tonight The World Dies." 6:43—Powerful singing up to C5 in "Betrayed." 7:23—Great singing touching on C5, with a number of great B4s, in "So Far Away." 8:16—A verse from "The Wicked End" that touches on C5 before ending on a nice Bb4. 8:38—Quick C#5 from "Sidewinder." 8:46—Singing up to C#5 from "Until the End." 8:59—Powerful singing up to C#5 in "Crossroads." 9:10—Gritty singing from D5 down in "Trashed and Scattered." 9:20—Raspy D5s from "M.I.A." 9:42—Fantastic passage from "The Wicked End" that goes up to a powerful and raspy D5. 10:36—Quick E♭5 from "Blinded in Chains." 10:41—Powerful singing up to E♭5 from "Betrayed." 11:14—Great high singing up to E♭5 in "I Won't See You Tonight." 11:44—Shadows' highest overall note—a powerful and gritty falsetto F#5 in "Blinded in Chains."
