DIARY OF A BALD KID is a coming-of-age comedy about growing up feeling different, learning how to survive socially, and accidentally discovering performance before you understand why you need it. Filmed live at Rumba Cafe in Columbus, Ohio, this show is based on true stories from my childhood — doctor visits, school group tours, summer camps, bullying, sleepovers, journals, and the slow realization that humor and storytelling could be a kind of armor. This show really is like a hug to my middle school self — and hopefully to yours too. It’s about looking back with compassion, laughing at what once felt unbearable, and realizing that most of us were just doing our best with what we had. Every journal entry you hear in this show is real. If you’ve ever loved shows like Mortified!, or if you’ve ever looked back on childhood and thought, “Oh no… that explains a lot,” this might be for you. DIARY OF A BALD KID won Best Solo Comedy at the NYC Fringe Festival and was performed at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it continued to grow into the version you see here. And yes — all of this is true.
