In this demo you will learn all about encaustic paint (pigmented beeswax) as we cover a wide range of topics including studio setup, painting with opaque and translucent color, layering & scraping, and mixing R&F Pigment Sticks with R&F encaustic paint. Kelly will discuss safe working temperatures, appropriate fusing tools, basic studio ventilation and tips for workspace setup. She will also go over appropriate encaustic grounds, how to prepare a surface using encaustic gesso and the benefits of Ampersand Encausticbord. Kelly will also make suggestions for equipment, including the R&F heated palette and heat gun; methods and helpful hints for working with encaustic and clean-up of materials, including brushes and palette.
