If you’ve been looking at your firewall’s logs, you may have seen the QUIC protocol appearing lately. What is it? This is a protocol that was originally designed by Google, and is somewhat of a competitor to TCP when it comes to web traffic. The goal is to improve performance, and one of the ways it does this is to multiplex several streams of traffic, rather than just one. Now when a website loads, multiple items can be loaded at once. In addition, if one stream fails, the other streams can carry on without waiting for timeouts. QUIC also includes proprietary encryption, which is TLS grade. The big question is, is QUIC secure?
