The new BMW M3 - Track Shakedown at Buttonwillow CW13

As we do with all our in-house project cars, we tracked our new 2021 BMW M3 in 100% stock form at Buttonwillow CW13 to set a baseline time. We're pleased to report that the G80 M3's amazing braking, handling, and power delivery allowed us to run multiple 1:57 laps 6x times in a row with the fastest lap at 1:57.444 in one of the sessions in the early afternoon. Furthermore, with a lot of fast drivers out on track this day, we had maybe 3 completely open laps and our fastest lap was completed with traffic in the back sweeper. Our lap timer's predictive lap was showing a 1:55 during this lap before we had to pass the Cayman! Our G80 M3 Competition came with the dealer provided Pirelli P-Zeros (300 treadwear), and we drove with a passenger at all times to counterweight for handling. Brakes had 0 fade and remained consistent throughout the entirety of each session pushing to the limit 90% of the time while on track. Temperatures remained consistent throughout with an ambient temp of 75-78 degrees. Suspension and handling characteristics were amazing to handle the ~3900 lbs (w/2 people) of weight. Power and torque leaves nothing to be wanting, and the G80's powertrain, differential & suspension deliver that power and torque and smooth, linear fashion that feels very close to how a naturally aspirated car feels on track.
