Noted Freethinker and authour Ravichandran C here examines the contribution of Dr. B.R Ambedkar to the weaker sections of India and his politics. This seminar was conducted by Dr AT Markose Chair on advanced Legal Studies at Government Law College, Thrissur, Kerala on 2.2.16 at 9.30 am. The chairman of the Constitutional draft committee which finalized the constitution of India, Dr. BR Ambedkar(1891-1956) was the true champion of the Dalits and the deprived in the caste ridden Indian society. Ravichandran remarked that the life Ambedkar was an incessant struggle against odds in which he ultimately achieved many things that lesser mortals could not even dream of. The speaker examines many political myths associated with Ambedkar, including his relationship with Mr. MK Gandhi. It is generally held that Ambedkar was invited by MK.Gandhi to write the constitution of India. Ravichandran debunks this myth and establish that whatever Ambedkar earned in his life was through sheer hard work, merit and unadulterated brilliance. The relationship between Indian national Congress and Ambedkar is also dealt in detail. The Poona Pact of 1932, The Mahad Satayagraha, Ambedkar's tenure as the labour member of the Viceroy's Council, major incidents in his life also commented upon by Ravichandran in this short speech. The speaker concluded by saying that fifty years from now, the Indian would realize that Ambedkar was the true 'Mahathama' Indians ever had
