February 21, 2026 — UFC Houston: Sean Strickland Finishes Anthony Hernandez, Sets Sights on Khamzat Chimaev Sean Strickland returned to the Octagon on February 21, 2026, and delivered a statement performance in the UFC Houston main event, stopping Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez via third-round TKO at the Toyota Center. After more than a year away from action, the former middleweight champion looked composed, sharp, and fully in control. Using his signature jab, steady forward pressure, and disciplined defense, Strickland dictated the fight from the opening round. He effectively shut down Hernandez’s typically aggressive grappling game and kept the contest in his preferred striking range. In the third round, a powerful knee to the body visibly hurt Hernandez, and Strickland capitalized with a sustained barrage of punches that forced the referee to halt the bout at 2:33. The victory ended Hernandez’s eight-fight win streak and gave Strickland his first stoppage win since 2023. The win moves Strickland to 30-7 and places him right back in the middleweight title discussion. In his post-fight remarks, he made it clear that he wants another crack at the belt, calling out undefeated champion Khamzat Chimaev. With no obvious next contender locked in, the challenge adds new intrigue to the 185-pound title picture. Elsewhere on the card, the co-main event produced an explosive finish as Uros Medic knocked out Geoff Neal just 79 seconds into Round 1 with a sharp left hook. Melquizael Costa also impressed, earning a highlight-reel TKO over Dan Ige with a spinning back kick late in the opening round. Performance bonuses of $100,000 were awarded to Sean Strickland, Uros Medic, Melquizael Costa, and Jacobe Smith for their standout efforts. With Strickland back in the win column and openly targeting the champion, the middleweight division gains fresh momentum heading further into 2026. Should Strickland get the next title shot?
