Taking a deeper look at the DW 3000 Hi-Hat spring loaded assembly. This video demonstrates how to adjust and even remove (if needed) the spring-loaded tension mechanism of a DW 3000 hi-hat . The mechanism has five preset settings, with level one being the tightest and level five being the loosest. Adjustments are made using a drum key to loosen and raise or lower the setting. I found that even at the loosest setting (level five), the pedal was too taut for my preference. To achieve a looser tension, I removed the mechanism using a drum key. This effectively created a tension level equivalent to a "level six" which I found ideal for my hi-hat cymbals. The video also shows how to reassemble the spring-loaded mechanism if needed.
