Welcome to Antonio's Ecotours, an eco-friendly whale watching camp that offers a unique experience in the beautiful Baja California Sur region. This video is the first of two, where we will be focusing on the campground area and the inside of the cabins. The second video will showcase the amazing whale watching experience that Antonio's Ecotours is known for. The campground is situated on the historic piece of land called La Freidera, which means "The Fryer" or "Place where something is fried" in Spanish. The name refers to the time in the late 1800s and early 1900s when the gray whale was harvested in Laguna San Ignacio by American whalers. The San Ignacio Lagoon, where the campground is situated, is within the Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve, the largest and least populated protected area in Mexico. The lagoons are vital reproduction and wintering sites for not only gray whales but also coastal bird species as the lagoon is situated along the Pacific Flyway for migrating birds. The campground offers hiking trails where you can spot nesting osprey such as the one scene in the video above. Antonio's Ecotours is a family-run business led by Antonio and Maria "Yaki" Aguilar, who have been offering accommodations, meals, and whale-watching excursions for over 25 years. The rustic yet comfortable lodging options include cozy cabins that provide the perfect outpost from which to experience the gray whales.
