Twenty years after the Bugatti Veyron forever altered the automotive landscape, Bugatti is paying tribute to both the car that defined the modern hypercar era and the man whose vision made it possible. The Bugatti F.K.P. Hommage, the second creation under the ultra-exclusive Programme Solitaire, is not merely a one-off hypercar. It is a rolling manifesto honoring Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Karl Piëch, the engineering force behind Bugatti’s renaissance and the creator of the legendary W16 engine. When the Bugatti Veyron debuted, it rewrote the rulebook. With 1,001 horsepower, a top speed exceeding 400 km/h, and a level of comfort previously unimaginable at such performance levels, it created an entirely new segment: the hyper-GT. Unlike raw supercars of the era, the Veyron combined extreme speed with refinement, reliability, and usability – qualities that would become Bugatti hallmarks. The origin story of the Veyron is now legendary. Not in Molsheim, but aboard a Japanese Shinkansen bullet train, Ferdinand Piëch sketched the revolutionary W-engine concept. Building on Volkswagen’s earlier VR architecture, this thinking ultimately culminated in the quad-turbocharged W16, a powerplant that redefined what was mechanically possible in a road car. Its compact packaging – just 645 mm long – allowed Bugatti engineers to achieve a remarkably short 2,700 mm wheelbase, exceptional balance, and all-wheel-drive composure at previously unimaginable speeds. The F.K.P. Hommage is built on the most advanced evolution of this platform. At its core lies the 1,600 hp W16 engine derived from the Chiron Super Sport, the model that finally fulfilled Piëch’s ambition of exceeding 300 mph (480 km/h). Larger turbochargers, enhanced intercooling, optimized cooling circuits, and a reinforced transmission represent the ultimate expression of W16 development before Bugatti transitions into a new era. Visually, the F.K.P. Hommage respectfully evolves the Veyron’s timeless design. Originally penned by Jozef Kabaň under Hartmut Warkuß, the Veyron rejected aggressive wedge styling in favor of a reclining, self-assured stance influenced by Bauhaus principles. The Hommage refines this philosophy with cleaner surfaces, a three-dimensional aluminum horseshoe grille, revised panel definitions, and larger air intakes to support the increased performance. New wheel sizes – 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear – are paired with the latest Michelin tire technology for improved dynamics and visual balance. Advanced paint technology further elevates the exterior. A deep red finish uses layered silver and tinted clear coats to create exceptional depth, while exposed carbon fiber receives a subtly pigmented clear coat for added richness and tactility. Inside, the transformation is even more profound. The interior is entirely bespoke, featuring a Bauhaus-inspired steering wheel, solid aluminum center console components, and exclusive Car Couture fabrics woven in Paris. The centerpiece is an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon integrated into the dashboard – mechanically powered by the car itself, without electrical connection. This extraordinary detail exemplifies Bugatti’s ability to deliver highly personal visions through Programme Solitaire. Limited to just two creations per year, Programme Solitaire represents the pinnacle of Bugatti personalization. With the F.K.P. Hommage, Bugatti delivers a fitting tribute to Ferdinand Piëch and the Veyron legacy – a hypercar that celebrates engineering audacity, timeless design, and the uncompromising pursuit of excellence.
