In a major step in the Calgary Mosquito Society's work to restore CF-HMS, a 1946 D.H.98 Mosquito owned by the City of Calgary, volunteers move the fuselage to a metal jig from the wooden frame where it has been for decades. The Society took possession of the airplane in 2012 after it had been in storage for 50 years. It will be restored as it served in Canada doing high altitude photo mapping work with Spartan Air Services from 1956 to 1960. It will be a static display restoration, but with engines running. The Bomber Command Museum of Canada in Nanton, Alberta (just south of Calgary) is providing the space within their museum for the restoration. All restoration work is done by volunteers with the Calgary Mosquito Society. Our thanks to the Bomber Command Museum and the City of Calgary for their support on the project. The Calgary Mosquito Society is also responsible for the restoration of a Mrk XII Hawker Hurricane. Check the web at calgarymosquitosociety.com
