HOW TO KNIT BASIC HAT PATTERN: children and teens Easy knitting UNISEX pattern for 20-22in head circumference, In this video, I'll show you how to knit a cozy hat using sports weight yarn that's perfect for teens and children with a head circumference between 20-22in and total height between 8 and 8.25in. Whether you're an experienced knitter or a beginner, this step-by-step in the round knitting patterns tutorial will help you craft a beginner friendly basic, stylish and warm beanie hat pattern. Join using the invisible join. 2. Brim: Work K1, P1 ribbing for 22 rows (front of the brim), then knit 3 rows for the fold, followed by 18 more rows to complete the brim. 3. Body of the hat: Knit across for a total of 32 rows. 4. Shaping the Top: Place stitch markers evenly in same way as above with 4 sections each with 32 stitches and one st between two st markers. Begin decreasing every other row as shown in the video/pattern until 12 stitches remain. Close the top of the hat. ✅For Children (18 – 19in head circumference / 7.5 to 8in length) 1. Cast On: 108+1 stitches. Join using the invisible join. 2. Brim: Work K1, P1 ribbing for 16 rows (front of the brim), then knit 3 rows for the fold, followed by 16 more rows to complete the brim. 3. Body of the hat: Knit across for a total of 28 rows. 4. Shaping the Top: Place stitch markers evenly in same way as above with 4 sections each with 26 stitches and one st between two st markers. Begin decreasing every other row as shown in the video/pattern until 12 stitches remain. Close the top of the hat.
