On July 28, 2021 in the very early hours of the morning, Katie Jannes to her dog Bowie for a walk in Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Her longtime girlfriend Emma Clark got of work at Henry's Midtown Tavern, texted Katie and got no response. After not finding her at home, she used her "Find My iPhone" app to locate Katie and found that her phone was stable at one location in the park. When she arrived at the park and went through the entrance, she found their dog dead on the path about 50 feet in and 100 further, she found Katie's mutilated body under a tree. She had been stabbed some fifty times and had three letters carved into her abdomen - F, A, T. No one has been charged with the crime and the Atlanta police say it is an active case. Very little information has been released on the case outside of a few videos - on of Katie on a crosswalk before she was murdered and six people leaving the park afterwards. Because of the appearance of massive rage in the killing, some think Katie's partner Emma was the killer, others think it was a hate crime because she was a lesbian (a well-known person in the local LGBTQ community in Midtown and possibly had a rainbow tattoo on her back), and others think it was a serial killer. You can go to YouTube and watch Detective Perspective with Derrick Levasseur on YouTube in which he gives a review of the crime, photos, videos and a link to the autopsy report. He gives theory of how he thinks the crime went down and who might have done it. I DO have some differences of opinion with how the crime went down and possible perpetrator and I am surprised at some unaddressed issues that I find fascinating. Of course, if you don't see it, I will be covering the important points and then taking you a reconstruction of the timeline and evidence.
