*Day 24 – Peter’s Confession: “You Are the Christ” | Matthew 16:15–16* In this message we explore one of the most important questions Jesus ever asked His disciples—a question that still confronts every believer today. *Matthew 16:15* “But what about you?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?” Before asking this question, Jesus first asked what the crowd believed. The answers sounded respectful and impressive: • John the Baptist • Elijah • Jeremiah • One of the prophets All of these were honorable answers, but they were still **wrong**. Jesus was not interested in public opinion. He was asking for **personal revelation**. Simon Peter answered with a powerful confession: *Matthew 16:16* “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” This statement was more than excitement or emotion. Jesus explained that this truth did not come from human reasoning but from divine revelation. *Matthew 16:17* “This was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven.” This confession becomes a turning point in the Gospel. Up to this moment Jesus had been healing, teaching, and feeding the crowds. After this moment, He begins to speak openly about the cross, suffering, and resurrection. Only those who truly recognize *who Jesus is* can understand **where He is leading them**. In this sermon we explore: • The difference between public opinion and personal faith • Why faith cannot be inherited or borrowed from others • The meaning of confessing Jesus as the Christ • Why the church is built on the revelation of Christ’s identity • The danger of a church that loses focus on who Jesus truly is The Bible gives powerful examples of those who confessed Christ correctly—like Martha, Nathanael, and Thomas—and others who misunderstood Him, including Herod, the Pharisees, and the crowds who wanted miracles but rejected the cross. The same question Jesus asked His disciples still stands today: Who do *you* say Jesus is? If He is truly the Christ, then He is Lord—and every part of our lives must come under His authority.
